Siqueiros Mural Discovery
In October of 2004, Luis Garza, Jose Luis Sedano, Bob Perine, Dave Tourje and Nob Hadeishi met to discuss Chouinard’s involvement in the creation of the mural “Street Meeting” – Siqueiros’s first mural painted in Los Angeles in 1932. This mural was thought to have been destroyed, but was found not to have been by the group subsequent to the meeting.
Discovery of the mural led to much national and international press, including an Emmy-nominated KCET production concerning the discovery. The mural remains unconserved despite this effort.
KCET Emmy nominated short documentary on the lost mural “Street Meeting” at the original Chouinard School of Art
